Painting quotes need to be done in person. Wall counts from photos miss half the surface area. Existing finish condition can't be assessed from a phone. Marco or Tessa walks every quote on-site within 3 business days, identifies prep work needed, and writes the estimate then and there. No "$X per square foot" bundled pricing.
If you don't see your question here, just call us — Patricia will answer it on the phone in less time than it takes to type into a contact form.
Interior repaint runs $3.20-$5.80 per square foot for whole-house work, depending on ceiling height, wall condition, and trim complexity. The math: a typical 2,000 sq ft home is $6,400-$11,600. Exterior repaint runs $3.85-$7.20 per square foot of exterior wall area (not house square footage) — typical 2,000 sq ft home with 1,800 sq ft of paintable exterior is $6,900-$13,000. Variables that move the price: existing paint condition (peeling = more prep), surface complexity (lots of trim/shutters/architectural detail = more cut-in time), height (anything 2nd-story-and-up needs scaffolding or extension ladders), and color (going from light to dark or dark to light may require an extra coat of primer).
Contractor-grade paint is the low-cost line every paint manufacturer sells — Sherwin-Williams ProMar, Benjamin Moore Ben, Behr Premium Plus. It's designed for new construction where everything is primed drywall and the spec is one coat of paint over primer. It looks fine on day one. It fails — fades, scuffs, develops touch-up halos — by year two or three. Premium paint (Sherwin-Williams Cashmere/Emerald, Benjamin Moore Aura/Regal Select) costs about 40% more per gallon but lasts 2-3x longer. The 18% premium that shows up in our quotes vs. cheap quotes is mostly this paint upgrade plus the second coat — that's what hits the five-year warranty.
Interior whole-house: 3-5 days on-site for typical 1,800-2,400 sq ft home. Exterior whole-house: 4-7 days depending on size and weather. Cabinet refinish: 3 weeks total turnaround (doors at our shop, boxes painted on-site). Single room interior: 1-2 days. Single accent wall: half day. We work in continuous days — no "we'll be back next week to finish." Crew shows up Monday morning, finishes by Friday afternoon (or Wednesday if it's a smaller job).
Yes, free with every quote. We bring the Sherwin-Williams and Benjamin Moore fan decks, talk through your existing finishes (flooring, cabinets, fixtures, lighting), discuss your goals (selling, staying, refresh), and leave 8x10 sample boards in the rooms where you'll see them in your actual lighting. Color committed before we order paint. If you want a more involved color consult — full whole-house palette planning, exterior schemes, working with an architect or designer — we partner with two local color consultants we've worked with for years (their fees are separate but we coordinate seamlessly).
Yes, every job. Day one of every interior project starts with masking, drop cloths over every horizontal surface, plastic sheeting over furniture you're not moving, painter's tape on every edge that's not getting painted. We move what we can move (chairs, end tables, light decor) and cover what we can't. Heavy furniture stays in place under sheeting. Hardwood floors get rosin paper, carpet gets canvas drop cloths. Cleanup at the end of every day — we don't leave drop cloths in your house overnight.
Standard payment is 30% deposit at contract signing, 30% at start of work, 40% at final walkthrough. For larger jobs ($15K+) we can split the middle payment into two milestone payments (after prep, after first coat). Financing is available through HomeAdvisor's payment partner — we don't run our own financing. We accept check, ACH, and credit card (3% surcharge on credit cards over $5K to cover processing).
