Tampa Bay's heavy excavation contractor. Site preparation, grading, demolition, underground utilities, and land clearing for residential builders, commercial developers, and anyone who needs to get a job out of the ground. Owner-operated. Licensed. Bonded.
Most excavation companies in Tampa are layered — a sales guy quotes the job, a project manager dispatches a crew, the crew sometimes shows up with the right machine. Costs go up, schedules slip, and nobody knows who's actually in charge.
Bedrock is different. Ray owns the company and operates the lead machine on every job over $15K. The crew is in-house, W-2, and runs our own equipment. You get one phone number, one face on site, one person accountable.
Residential pad prep, commercial site work, underground utility installs, demolition, land clearing, drainage, and mass grading. Bid packages for GCs welcome.
Clearing, grubbing, stripping topsoil, mass grading, fine grading to engineer spec. GPS rover, laser screed, surveyor on call. Pads ready for slab.

My grandfather ran heavy equipment in central Florida for 40 years — citrus groves, phosphate mines, the early strip malls on Dale Mabry. My dad ran a fleet for a commercial excavator in Miami. I started operating when I was seventeen, running skid steers on a residential crew in Ybor City.
I started Bedrock in 2008 with one used Cat 314 and a Ford F-550 I bought at an auction. The first year it was just me, a book of quotes, and a cell phone. I slept in the truck on long jobs. I still do sometimes.
Seventeen years later we've got twelve machines, six operators, and a dispatcher. But the core promise is the same: every job over fifteen grand, I'm on the seat of the lead machine. If you want to know how the job's going, call me — not a PM. I'll tell you straight.
Free site visit. We walk the property with you and your plans, ID the constraints — trees, utilities, setbacks, access — and confirm the scope.
Written lump-sum bid within 48 hours. Line items for clearing, grading, utilities, hauling, permits. No hourly "T&M" tricks.
Machines on site, erosion control up, 811 marked, permits in hand. Ray runs the lead machine. Daily updates if you want them.
Final grade signed off, debris hauled, site restored, certified to engineer spec. Photo log of the finished job delivered to you.
Repeat work from GCs and builders is how this business runs. A few recent notes from people who've had us back.
We've used Bedrock on seven builds over four years. Ray bids it, Ray runs it, Ray delivers it. No project managers, no confusion, no cost overruns. Every pad they turn over to us comes in on grade, compacted, ready for the slab crew. You cannot find better in Hillsborough.
Had a messy lot with three mature oaks we wanted to keep and a shed to demo. Ray walked it, marked the drip lines, and his crew took down the shed and cleared the brush around the oaks without touching a single root zone. Final grade came in within a quarter inch of spec. That's craft.
Bedrock did the full underground utilities for our 22-unit townhome project in Brandon. Water, sewer, storm drain, electrical — all permit-in-hand, all done clean the first time. We've worked with three excavators on similar projects; Ray's was the only one that didn't cost us a week in callbacks.
Send us the scope and we'll walk the site within 48 hours. Hard bids written in plain English — no estimator padding, no surprise change orders, no hiding fees in line items.
